We hope that everyone had a very happy National Library Week! We hope that everyone enjoyed Drop Everything And Read day last Thursday. We know that we did. Every day is Drop Everything And Read day to us.

Thought we’d share a little bit about the Dewey Decimal System. We use the Dewey Decimal System to catalog our non-fiction books here at the library. Here are the subject groups: 000s is General Knowledge, 100s is Psychology & Philosophy, 200s is Religion & Mythology, 300s is Social Sciences & Folklore, 400s is Languages, 500s is Math & Science, 600s is Medicine & Technology, 700s is Arts & Recreation, 800s is Literature, 900s is Geography & History. Each non-fiction book has a Call Number label on it with the appropriate Dewey classification number and the first three letters of the author’s last name. This Call Number sticker identifies where the book belongs on the shelf. If you pull a book off a shelf to use, do not reshelf it yourself, but please leave it on a tabletop after you are through with it. A miss-shelved book is a lost book.

Just a reminder that Libraries Rock Summer Reading programs will start Thursday, June 7th at 2pm for pre-K through 6th graders. We will also have a Teen (ages 12-17) and Adult (ages 18+) Reading Contests for the months of June and July.

Happy Reading!
