Where has this month gone?  It seems like just yesterday that we were celebrating New Year’s Day.  We’ve even had a few holidays since then as well.  Time sure does fly.  We would like to tell everyone that we are continuing to have some roofing work done.  We apologize for the sometimes excessive noise; however, the results will be worth a few minutes of drilling and hammering.  Please bear with us, thanks!

Since the month of March is almost over, we had better get the calendar out for April.  Here it is!  It should be a fun month.  We are looking forward to having spring here with us in addition to all the great activities here at our library.

The library will be closed on Friday, April 2nd in observance of Good Friday. We hope that everyone has a blessed day.

Toddler Time is scheduled for Monday, April 5th and Monday, April 19th at 11 a.m.  We have stories, coloring, and a light snack.  All toddlers and their caregivers are invited to join us for Toddler Time at the library.  We love a good story!  Coloring is so much fun too!  A tasty snack is always a treat.  Join us for Toddler Time!

Lunch & Learn is scheduled for Wednesday, April 28th at 12 noon.  Our guest speakers are not fully lined up yet.  As soon as we have the information about the speakers, we will post it.  Everyone is invited to attend.  Please remember to bring a lunch, the library will provide drinks and dessert.  Let’s Lunch & Learn at the Library!  If you have a suggestion for a topic or a speaker, please let us know.  We are always eager to hear about new things.

We still have tax forms available.  They are located on the left-hand side of the main aisle as you enter the main section of the library.  Take what you need.  If you do not see the form you are searching for, please let us know.  We may be able to find it on the IRS website.

            Happy Reading!

Writing a weekly column for the newspaper isn’t always an easy thing to do.  “Why?” you ask.  Because of writer’s block, that’s why!  Sitting at the desk, staring at the blank piece of paper with pen in hand waiting for an idea to come to mind, I try to focus.  (This sounds much better than saying “Staring at a blank document on the computer screen,” doesn’t it?)  What to do, what to do?!?  Well, for starters, calm down.  OK done.  Now to think of everything that needs to be announced.  Let’s see . . .

First, we need to wish everyone a Happy St. Patrick’s Day.  Did everyone have a bit o’ luck?  See a rainbow?  Find a four-leaf clover?  Find a leprechaun with a pot of gold?  (If you did find a leprechaun with a pot of gold, would you consider sharing the wealth?)

Second, we need to remind everyone of Lunch & Learn.  Lunch & Learn is scheduled for Wednesday, March 24th at 12 noon in the Library Meeting Room.  We will be having Anne Banks and Jo Matherne, candidates for city mayor, as our speakers.  Please remember to bring a lunch, the library will provide drinks and dessert.

Thirdly, we need to remind everyone that we still have tax forms available here.  They are located on the left-hand side of the aisle as you enter the main part of the library.  Take what you need.

By mid-month it is more difficult to come up with new ideas for the column.  The calendar of events is half-over.  What else . . .oh yes . . .a short list of some of the newer books that we have recently added, that’s the forth item we need to include.  We have the following for your reading pleasure:

                        “Winter Garden” by Kristin Hannah

“Big Girls Do Cry” by Carl Weber

                        “Brava, Valentine” by Adrianna Trigiani

“The Queen’s Governess” by Karen Harper

Whew!  Now that I have a list of four things to include in the article for this week, I can start writing.

Oh, I mustn’t forget “Happy Reading!”

Time is marching on isn’t it?  The sun rises and the sun sets and another day has passed.  Spring should be here soon.  Flowers should soon be shooting forth from the ground.  What is another mark of spring?  Daylight savings time happens this weekend.  We must remember to “spring forward” and turn our clocks ahead an hour.  Ah well, time marches forth . . .

We have Toddler Time scheduled for Monday, March 15th at 11 a.m.  All toddlers and their caregivers are invited to join us for stories and coloring here at the library.  We love having toddlers and their caregivers with us for story time.  Please join us!  Toddler Time at the Library – what fun!

Do you know what day next Wednesday is?  It’s St. Patrick’s Day!  After doing a wee bit of research about this holiday, the following information was found (using the Tennessee Electronic Library of course!) from the March 17, 2006 edition of The Olympian, byline: Lisa O’pemberton:

“Nearly 34 million Americans claim Irish ancestry — that’s about nine times the

population of Ireland itself. In Thurston County, more than 12 percent claim Irish

heritage. But today is St. Patrick’s Day, and “Everybody’s Irish,” as the saying goes. – Officially: This is the Roman Catholic feast day that honors St. Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland. He was considered one of the most successful missionaries in history, playing a large role in converting Ireland to Christianity and Catholicism. — To celebrate: Don some green for pinch protection, wear a shamrock in a hat, eat Lucky Charms for breakfast (they’re magically delicious!) and add an O’ before your last name for the day. “

What a wonderful day to celebrate!  Have a great day everyone!

Lunch & Learn is scheduled for Wednesday, March 24th at 12 noon.  The plans for a speaker are being finalized as we speak.  Stay tuned for details.  Bring a lunch, the library will provide drinks and dessert.  Let’s Lunch & Learn at the Library!

            Happy Reading!

The month of March should be marching along very quickly.  We are always excited to have March here – slightly warmer weather!

Let’s give a big round of applause to Mr. Terrence Fluker.  Mr. Fluker was from the U. S. Census Bureau. He gave a very informative overview of the census and how it affects our community for our Lunch & Learn program last week.  Thank you, Mr. Fluker, for coming and educating us about the Census program.  So everyone, when you get your Census questionnaire in the mail, please fill it out and return it as soon as possible.

We just got another shipment of tax forms here at the library.  All tax forms are located on the left-hand side of the walkway after you have entered the main section of the library.  If you are not able to locate the form(s) that you need, please let us know, and we will see if we can find it on the IRS website, which is http://www.IRS.gov  Please remember that the staff of the library is NOT qualified to give any type of tax advice.  If you have questions regarding your taxes, please contact a certified tax professional or the IRS.  Please be courteous and take only what you need as our supplies are limited.

The next Toddler Time is scheduled for Monday, March 15th at 11 a.m.  Please join us for stories, coloring and a light snack.  Let’s have fun at Toddler Time at the library.

Oh my stars!  Do you know what day is fast approaching?  The luck of the Irish – Happy St. Patrick’s Day.  Don’t forget to wear something green, you don’t want to get pinched.

The next Lunch & Learn is scheduled for Wednesday, March24th at 12 noon in the library meeting room.  Our guest speaker is still to be announced, so stay tuned.  Please remember to bring a lunch, the library will provide drinks and dessert.  Let’s Lunch & Learn at the Library!
