This summer has just flown by so quickly.  Summers don’t seen to last as long as they did when I was younger.  It used to feel as if anything and everything could happen during the summer.  Not so much anymore.  Summer goes by too fast.  Summer is almost over and school will be starting soon.  It is so hard to believe that school will be starting back in a few weeks.  Have you completed your summer reading list yet?

Here is the library schedule for the month of August.  We have some great things planned, put them on your calendars and we hope to see you at the library soon!

Toddler Time will be offered on Monday, August 2nd at 11 a.m.  We have stories, a coloring craft, and a light snack.  All toddlers and their caregivers are invited to attend Toddler Time at the library.  Toddler Time will also be offered on Monday, August 16th at 11 a.m. as well.

Friends Night at the Library will be offered on Tuesday, August 17th at 7 p.m.  Our guest speaker for the evening will be B. Eliot, author of “Why the Women . . .?”  Please join us for an evening of fun.  All are invited to attend.

(Just a side note – Would you be interested in serving of the Friends of the Library Board to help coordinate the Friends evenings and other Friends projects?  If so, please contact Katherine at the library 772-9534.)

Lunch & Learn will be offered on Wednesday, August 25th at 12 noon in the Library Meeting Room.  The guest speaker will be announced shortly.  Please remember to bring a lunch, the library will provide drinks and dessert.  Let’s Lunch & Learn at the Library!

            Happy Reading!

The library would like to extend hearty congratulations and best wishes to the city of Brownsville’s newly sworn-in mayor, Mayor Jo Matherne.  Please visit the library any time.

Where has this summer gone?  It is just flying by.  Our Make A Splash Read Summer Reading program may be over, but our Adult Summer Reading Contest is not!  So, all you adults out there – read some books!  When you have finished reading, fill out a “How I Liked This Book” form found at the circulation desk and place it in the drawing box.  We will have a drawing for the July Winner after all entries made by 5 p.m. on July 31st.  Let’s Read!!

Summer wouldn’t be summer without a Junior High School and a High School Summer Reading list.  We have placed all the copies (that the library owns) of the Junior High and High School Reading lists on our display rack as you enter the main portion of the library.  If you haven’t started reading yet, you only have a few weeks left.  Better hurry!

We had a special guest visit the library last week.  Senator Dolores Gresham dropped by to visit with us last week.  We were so very glad to see her and have her spend time with us.  She was very pleased to see the library being se well used.  Thank you, Senator Gresham, for visiting and sharing your time with us.  Please come by again.

            Happy Reading!
