It’s hard to believe that this month is almost over.  Where has the time gone?  It seems like just yesterday that we were preparing for Summer Reading and now it is fall.  It is now time to “fall” into a good book.  Yes, we love puns.   We think that puns are very “punny.”

On to news from the library.  We have a few more days left in the month of September and then October is here.  The calendar of events for October is as follows:

Toddler Time will be offered on Monday, October 4th at 11 a.m.  We offer stories, crafts and a light snack.  All toddlers and their caregivers are invited to join us.

Toddler Time will be offered a second time on Monday, October 18th at 11 a.m.

Lunch & Learn will be offered on Wednesday, October 27th at 12 noon.  Our guest speaker will be announced shortly.  Bring a lunch, the library will provide drinks and dessert.

The Friends Book Sale is still going!  We have some great books that need good homes.  Prices are excellent, if we do say so ourselves.  Come and check out the Friends Book sale tables located in the children’s/young adult section.

We have quite a few unclaimed reading Railroad books for sale as well.  These books,  for children from birth to age five, are in excellent shape and sell for $2.00 per book.  All proceeds from the sale of these books goes back into the Haywood County Reading Railroad program.  And, if you know of a child under the age of five years old, who lives here in Haywood County, who isn’t already sign-up for this free program, tell them (actually the child’s parents) to come to the library and sign-up today!

Did you know that the library has a Facebook page?  Just search for Elma Ross Public Library and there we are!  We hope that you will “like” us!  We also have a blog.  The link for the blog is https://elmarosslibrary.wordpress.com

Hmmmmmmm . . .staring at a computer screen . . .soooooo much fun.  Library news should be EXCITING, ADVENTUROUS, even DARING at times.  So why is so hard to write this week’s article?  This is a quandary.  What exciting things do we have going on here at the library this week?

Maybe we should make a list of all the events happening for the month.  We have Toddler Time scheduled for Monday, September 20th at 11 a.m.  We invite all toddlers and their caregivers to come to the library for stories, coloring and a light snack.  We have so much fun with our Toddler Time program.  It is ok that the toddlers, well, toddle around during the program, we still have lots of fun.  OK, that’s the first item on the list of events.

Second, we have Lunch & Learn on Wednesday, September 22nd at 12 noon in the library meeting room.  We invite guest speakers in each month to give a short program.  We have Sheronda Green coming this month to talk about the YMCA.  This is going to be really interesting and a lot of fun.  We hope that we have a room full.  OK, two items on our list.  So far, so good.  What else can we tell all the interested folks out there?

We ought to remind everyone about TEL since school is back in session.  TEL is the Tennessee Electronic Library and it is a wonderful (and FREE!) resource for all school needs.  TEL is an online database of materials that are available to all ages from kindergarten to post graduate school.  We have the TEL link directly on the library computer desktops.  You can also access TEL from home, just go to this website tntel.tnsos.org or put the name Tennessee Electronic Library in your search engine, it should be the first link to pop up.  That is a great third item on our list.  Now for a fourth..

We also have READS.  The Regional E-book and Audio-book Download System.  You can download your favorite books to your own home computer, CDs, or MP3 player of your choice.  All you have to have is your valid library card and this website: http://reads.lib.overdrive.com  Easy and simple and FREE!

One last reminder for our list of events – Book Sale time is here at the library!  The Friends Book sale is in full swing for this month.  We have tables and a few small bookcases full of good books that need new homes.  Book sale prices are listed on the bulletin board by the tables.

There that should take care of the list of items needed to write the article this week.  Oh how could we forget . . .

Happy Reading!
