We are almost one month into the New Year.  It seems like time passes way too fast now these days. It seems like this library building just opened up.  Has it really been open since 1992?  Now that we have the majority of the renovations complete, the library is looking mighty spiffy.  Come by and see us.  The new carpet looks great as do the walls with its fresh coat of paint.  We are working very hard to get all our books back on the shelves as quickly as we can.  We are doing an inventory process and it takes a little bit of time, but progress is being made.  We thank you for your patience and understanding.

Yes, we have tax forms.  No, we do not have all the forms that we have ordered.  We are waiting for the IRS to deliver the rest of our orders.  No, we do not know when the IRS will ship them.  The staff of the library is not qualified to give any type of tax advice.  If you have questions about which forms you need, please contact a certified tax preparer or the IRS.  Thanks!

Here is the schedule of events for the month of February:

Toddler Time will be offered on Monday, February 7th at 11 a.m.  All toddlers and their caregivers are invited to come hear stories, color, and have a light snack.

The Friends of the Library Annual Membership Meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, February 15th at 6 p.m.  Our guest speaker for the event will be Mr. O’Neal Henley, author of “Autumn Miracle”.  Please consider becoming a member of the Friends of the Library this year.  Reservations will be required.  More details will be provided soon.

Toddler Time will be offered on Monday, February 21st at 11 a.m.  All toddlers and their caregivers are invited to come hear stories, color, and have a light snack.

Lunch & Learn will be offered on Wednesday, February 23rd at 12 noon.  The guest speaker is yet to be announced.  Please remember to bring a lunch, the library will provide drinks and dessert.

As you may have noticed, if you have visited the library lately, the library is missing quite a few books.  (Gasp!  Oh no!  How horrible!).  Never fear!  The books are simply in storage while some interior painting is being done.  We appreciate your patience and understanding.  We have attempted to keep the New Books on the display shelves in front of the Circulation Desk.  Children’s Fiction and Easy Readers are temporarily located on the tops of the middle shelves in the children’s section.  The library will look absolutely beautiful when everything is completed – it will be a whole new library!

The library is going to have the tile in the front lobby and leading up to the Circulation Desk redone as well.  We will have to close the library for a few days to accomplish this.  We are attempting to schedule this job over a weekend to minimize the closure time.  We will announce the dates of the tile renovation/library closing on the library Facebook page.  Again, we thank you for your patience and understanding.

Lunch & Learn is scheduled for Wednesday, January 26th at 12 noon in the Meeting Room.  Our guest speaker is still being confirmed, so stay tuned for details.  Please remember to bring a lunch, the library will provide drinks and dessert.  Let’s Lunch & Learn at the Library!

Tax forms continue to arrive here at the library.  We are putting them out as soon as we can unpack them.  We do not have everything that we have initially ordered from the IRS.  The IRS is printing and shipping as fast as they can.  Please do not ask the library staff for assistance in filing your taxes.  The library staff is NOT able to answer ANY tax questions at all – all we can do is give you the forms.  If you have tax questions, please contact a certified tax preparer or the IRS.

Put this date on your calendar – February 15, 2011 at 6 p.m.  Why?  Because this is the date and time for the Friends of the Library Annual Membership Meeting!  Stay tuned for details.

We are having some interior painting done here at the library.  Because of the painting, we have had to take books off the shelves and store them.  If you have any Adult Fiction books currently checked-out, please call us and we will renew them for you.  Please do not return Adult Fiction books to us at this time since we have no place to put them.  We apologize for any inconvenience that this may cause.  We hope that you like the new paint!

We are also hoping to get the new tile installed sometime soon.  Since the area to be tiled includes the front lobby area, the library will have to be closed a few days.  As soon as we determine the schedule for the new tile, we will announce it on the library Facebook page.  Again, we apologize for any inconvenience that this may cause.

Due to the fact that the tax bill just recently passed, the IRS is just now printing some of the tax forms for this tax season.  As soon as we receive these forms, we will put them out.  As always, the staff of the library is not qualified in any way, shape, or form, to answer any tax questions.  If you have questions about your taxes, please contact a certified tax preparer or the IRS.

The library will be closed on Monday, January 17th in observance of the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday.  We hope that everyone has a blessed day.

Lunch & Learn is scheduled for Wednesday, January 26th at 12 noon in the library meeting room.  Our guest speaker is still being confirmed, so stay tuned for details.  Please remember to bring a lunch, the library will provide drinks and dessert.  Let’s Lunch & Learn at the Library!

Let’s give a hand for the New Year 2011!  Yea!  What a wonderful year so far!  We have some exciting things happening here at the library for this year.  Here is our calendar for January 2011:

We have Toddler Time on the first and third Mondays of each month at 11 a.m.  Please join us for stories, coloring and a light snack.  We have so much fun at Toddler Time and we hope to see you here.

The Library will be closed on Monday, January 17, 2011 in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.  We hope everyone has a blessed day.  If you are interested in learning more about Dr. King, the library has some excellent materials to check out.

“I Have A Dream” by James Haskins

“The Autobiography of Martin Luther King, Jr.” by Martin Luther King, Jr.

“The Assassination of Martin Luther King, Jr.” by R. Conrad Stein

We have other books to choose from as well.  Come and check out our selections.

Lunch & Learn will begin again this month.  Lunch & Learn is scheduled for Wednesday, January 26th at 12 noon.  Our guest speaker is yet to be announced.  Stay tuned for details.  Bring a lunch, the library will provide drinks and dessert.

We are having further renovations done here at the library.  We have painting  and new entryway tile scheduled for this month.  This means that all the books that are located on bookcases attached to the walls will be boxed-up and stored and will be unavailable for checkout.  We apologize for this inconvenience.  We will announce via Facebook when this will take place.  We thank you for your patience and understanding during this renovation process.  The library is looking much better and we are almost through.
