Oh my gosh!  What was that?  Did you feel it?  There!  Did you feel it that time?  A breeze, very faint, but a breeze none the less.  Could it be that summer is winding down?  The end of August is almost here, which is very hard to believe.  School has started back and we wish all our teachers, students, administrators and school staff a great school year.

We have a great Lunch & Learn program coming up next week.  Lunch & Learn is set for Wednesday, August 24th at 12 noon in the Library Meeting Room.  Our guest presenter will be Mr. Carl O’Cain from Century Farms Winery.  Mr. O’Cain will tell us the history of Century Farms and how wine is made right next door to us.  Please join us.  All are invited to attend.  Please remember to bring a lunch, the library will provide drinks and dessert.

Now that school has started back for the year, we wanted to remind everyone of a few great resources found here at your library.  Firstly, is Tennessee Electronic Library, commonly called TEL.  Secondly, is the Regional E-Book and Audio-book Download System.  Here is soon good information to keep handy.

TEL is a wonderful on-line database chock-full of scholarly journals, articles, newspapers, genealogy, and test-prep provided free of charge to all libraries through the Tennessee State Library and Archives.  These items are accessed via the internet; however, the journals, articles, and newspapers, etc are content-trustworthy resources that just happen to be accessed via the internet.  There is even an option that will teach you how to correctly cite these resources for use in your research papers.  You can even take practice tests with TEL through the Learn-a-Test portal.  Practice for your ACT/SAT/GRE and any number of other tests – all for free!  You can access TEL here at the library or if you have a home computer, you can access it at home too!

READS is a great site too.  You can download books to your home computer, e-reader, CDs, or MP3 player of your choice.  So if there is a reading assignment at school and our copies of the book are checked out – go to READS and download it at home for free!  Just visit this site:  http://reads.lib.overdrive.com

            Happy Reading!

Oh . . .my . . . goodness!  It is way too hot outside.  Please be very careful if you have to be out in the heat for any length of time.  Please be sure to drink plenty of water and take frequent breaks.  You can always beat the heat by reading a really cool book!

We must  give a shout of thanks to Sharon Hayes who gave the Lunch & Learn program for July. Sharonspoke about the renovations/improvements happening around the Courthouse.  Thank youSharonfor being with us and sharing such great information.
