Happy Thanksgiving everyone!  The staff and volunteers of the Elma Ross Public Library wish everyone a blessed, happy, healthy, safe, fun, food-stuffed Thanksgiving.  We have so much to be grateful and thankful for here inAmerica.  Let us all give thanks for everything that truly matters . . .our families and our health.  God’s blessings to all.  After you have stuffed yourselves silly, sit down and read a great book.

December is almost here.  It is just around the corner.  The last month of the year is just about ready to pounce.  Some really good things will be happening here at the library during the month of December.  Here is our schedule of events:

Friday, December 2nd – Gingerbread House Family Night at 7pm.  We read “The Gingerbread Baby” and “Gingerbread Friends”, make gingerbread houses from milk cartons, graham crackers, frosting and candy.  Lots and lots of sticky, gooey fun!  Space is limited.  Reservations are required.  Call the library, 772-9534, to sign-up.

Monday, December 5th & 19th – Toddler Time at 11am.  All toddlers and their caregivers are invited for stories, coloring, and a light snack.  We love our toddlers.  Let’s come and have some fun at the library!

There is no Lunch & Learn for the month of December.  We hope that everyone has a great holiday season.  Lunch & Learn will resume in January 2012.

The Library will be closed on Saturday, December 24th and Monday, December 26th in observance of the Christmas holiday.

            Happy Reading!

Oh my, fall has definitely arrived!  All these swirling, beautifully colored leaves fluttering everywhere is so pretty.  Know what else is pretty neat?  Reading a really great book while snuggled up on the couch enjoying a warn cup of tea.  Bliss!

OK folks, here is the calendar of events for the rest of the month:

We have Toddler Time on Monday, November 21st at 11 am.  All toddlers and their caregivers are invited to join us for stories, coloring and a light snack.  We love Toddler Time at the Library!

There is NO Lunch & Learn for the months of November and December due to the Thanksgiving and Christmas holiday seasons.  Lunch & Learn will resume in January 2012.

The Library will be closed on Thursday, November 24th and Friday, November 25th in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday.  We hope that everyone has a blessed, safe, happy, and healthy Thanksgiving.  We’re ready for some turkey, dressing, and pumpkin pie!

Now that November is halfway over it is time to start preparing for the month of December.  Why, you ask?  Well, we have this really neat family program that we offer the first part of December and we need to start telling people about it.  Which program, you eagerly ask?  The Gingerbread House Family Night program, of course!.  The Gingerbread House Family Night is set for Friday, December 2nd at 7pm.  We have so much fun at this annual event.  We hear the story of the “Gingerbread Baby” and “Gingerbread Friends”, then we get to make gingerbread houses out of graham crackers, frosting and (lots and lots of) candy.  It is always so much fun to see how much candy gets eaten instead of used to decorate the houses.  Hopefully, we won’t have a repeat of last year with our plumbing and having no running water in the building during the Family Night.  (Knock on wood and cross your fingers.)  In order for us to have a great time at this event, we do require reservations to secure your spot.  Space is limited, so get your reservations in early.  Please call 772-9534 to make your reservations.  Gingerbread House Family Night, Friday, December 2, 2011 at 7pm – yea!!!

Wow, the month of November sure did get here fast!  It seems like just yesterday that we were just beginning the year and now we are almost at the end.  Time sure does fly!  And sometimes we wish that it would slow down just a little bit so that we could enjoy it a little more.  Such is life.

The library would like to extend our warmest thanks and job well done to Mr. Tom Lea for his Lunch & Learn program last week.  Mr. Tom is an inspiration with plants, leaves, and gourds.  Thank you, thank you, thank you for presenting such a great program for us.
