This year is quickly coming to a close.  How is that possible?  It seems like just yesterday that it was the beginning of 2011.  Time certainly does fly.  We hope that everyone had a “Happy Hanukkah” and/or a “Merry Christmas.”   The library will be closed on Monday, January 2, 2012, in observance of the New Year.  Happy New Year everyone!

Have you heard about our free computer classes?  We are excited to be able to offer free computer classes starting January 3, 2012.  Classes will be offered on Tuesdays.  There is a morning class at 8:30am and an afternoon class at 3pm.  Classes last an hour.  There is also Lab Time being offered on Fridays at the same times (8:30am and 3pm) and for the same amount of time (1 hr) for each class participant.  The first class is Beginning Computers on January 3rd.  The second class is Microsoft Word on January 10th.  The third class is Creating E-mails on January 17th.  The fourth class is FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) on January 24th.  The fifth class is Creating Resumes on January 31st.  Space is limited.  We have only ten spaces per class.  Reservations are required.  Come by the library today and sign-up for these FREE computer classes.

In addition to the computer classes beginning in January, here is the rest of our January schedule.  Since the 1st and 3rd Mondays are holidays, Toddler Time will be offered on the January 9th and January 23rd at 11am.  All toddlers and their caregivers are invited to come to the library to hear stories, color and have a light snack.  Lunch & Learn will be offered on Wednesday, January 25th at 12 noon.  If you know of someone who would be a great presenter for Lunch & Learn, please contact the library at 772-9534.

HappyReading and see you next year!

Can it be that Thanksgiving was last week?  How is that possible?  Then I take a look at the calendar and guess what?  December is here!  Some really good things will be happening here at the library during the month of December.  Here is our schedule of events:

Friday, December 2nd – Gingerbread House Family Night at 7pm.  We read the stories “The Gingerbread Baby” and “Gingerbread Friends”, make gingerbread houses from milk cartons, graham crackers, frosting and candy.  Lots and lots of sticky, gooey fun!  Space is limited.  Reservations are required.  We have so much fun at this event.  We can hardly wait!

Monday, December 5th – Toddler Time at 11am.  All toddlers and their caregivers are invited for stories, coloring, and a light snack.  We love our toddlers.  Let’s come and have some fun at the library!

Monday, December 19th – Toddler Time at 11am.  All toddlers and their caregivers are invited for stories, coloring, and a light snack.  We have lots of great fun with toddlers at Toddler Time.  Please come and join us for this wonderful family time.

There is no Lunch & Learn for the month of December.  We hope that everyone has a great holiday season.  Lunch & Learn will resume in January 2012.  If you know of a person who would be interested in presenting a Lunch & Learn program, please contact the library with the details.  Please contact Katherine at 772-9534 or elmarosslibrary@bellsouth.net

The Library will be closed on Saturday, December 24th and Monday, December 26th in observance of the Christmas holiday.

The Elma Ross Public Library will soon begin offering computer classes.  Class size will be limited to ten people per session.  There will be two sessions offered each class day (8:30am and 3pm).  Classes will be on Tuesdays and a lab day on Fridays for each session (8:30am & 3pm).  We will be covering a wide range of topics, but will be beginning with an Introduction to Computers class.  More details soon.
