It’s almost February.  Can you believe it?  Wow, it just doesn’t seem real that the first month of the year 2012 is over.  Well, my goodness, since it is almost February, we’d better tell you all that will be happening here at the library for the upcoming month.

Toddler Time will be offered on the 1st and 3rd Mondays of the month (Feb. 6th, and Feb. 20th) at 11 am.  All toddlers and their caregivers are invited to come to the library, listen to stories, color, and have a light snack.  We love Toddler Time at the Library!  Come and join us!

Free Computer Classes for February include the following:  IRS.gov on Feb. 7th, Microsoft Power Point on Feb. 14th, Microsoft Publisher on Feb. 21st, and Microsoft Excel on Feb. 28th.  There are two class times offered each Tuesday – 8:30am and 3pm.  Each class lasts one hour and offers a Lab Day on each Friday also at 8:30am and 3pm.  Class size is limited, so please call or come in to register for FREE computer classes.

Lunch & Learn for February will be on Wednesday, February 29th at 12 noon in the Library Meeting Room.  Our guest speaker is yet to be announced, so please stay tuned for details.

The Friends of the Library is organizing the Annual Membership Meeting for late February.  If you are interested in serving on the Friends Board, please contact Katherine at the library, 772-9534.  We could use your help.

Several of the library staff will be receiving training in Mid-February on the new circulation system that we will be getting shortly here at your library.  This new circulation system will be a great benefit to us, to help better serve all out patrons.  It may take us (library staff) and you (lovely library patrons) just a little bit of time to get used to this new system,  so we are asking for your patience and understanding as we learn this new software.  Thanks.

We have Tax Forms!!  Tax Forms are located in the metal rack on the left as you enter the main room of the library headed towards the circulation desk.  Please take only what you need as our supplies are limited.  We have not received all the forms that we requested.  If you do not see the form that you are looking for, please ask at the circulation desk.

            Happy Reading!

We are on a roll here with our computer classes.  We are having a blast here.  We certainly hope that the attendees are learning and enjoying themselves.  We have some great topics for February, March, and April.

February’s computer classes include:  IRS.gov on Feb. 7th.  Microsoft Power Point on Feb. 14th, Microsoft Publisher on Feb. 21st, and Microsoft Excel on Feb. 28th.  Class size is limited, please sign-up today.  These classes are free and we teach strictly the basics.  Each class will be followed by a Lab Day on Friday so you can practice what you learned in Tuesday’s class.  We are having a great time learning these computers skills with you.

We have Tax Forms!  Yes, we do.  We have Tax Forms available here for you at the library.  We have not received all our ordered shipments, so there may be a few forms that we are waiting on.  Please take only what you need.  The library is NOT allowed to give out blank W-2s, or any 1099 Forms.  These forms must come from YOUR employer.  The library is not able to give out any tax advice.  If you need assistance with your taxes, please contact the IRS or a certified tax preparer.

The Elma Ross Public Library will be getting something special in the next few weeks/months.  We will be getting a new circulation program.  Our old circulation program is, well, old and the company that created it no longer updates its information and offers much technical support if there is a problem.  So, the library will be getting a newer, faster, prettier web-based circulation program which will also act as a library website.  This means that if you have a home computer with internet access, you will be able to access the library webpage/circulation program from home anytime 24/7.  This new program, once we get it installed and up and running, will take a bit of time for us (the library staff), and you (our lovely library patrons), to get used to.  Please be patient with us as we learn this new software.  We’re excited!
