            Two days.  That’s it, just two more days.  What happens in just two more days?  All the books in the library will just **poof** disappear.  What?!?  Oh no!  What a catastrophe.   How could this happen?  Is the library closing?  This is just . . . . . . . . . . . . . .an April Fool’s joke a couple of days early.  (Sorry, couldn’t resist.) 

            There are some really neat things going on here at the library during the month of April.  Here is our calendar of events.

            Monday, April 2nd – Toddler Time at 11am.  All toddlers and their caregivers are invited for stories, coloring and a light snack.  We love toddlers at Toddler Time!

            Tuesday, April 3rd – Learn-a-Test Class.  Two class times:  8:30am-9:30am and 3pm-4pm.  We only have 10 places, so please register today.  For those attending the Learn-a-Test Class a Learn-a-Test Lab will be offered on Wednesday, April 4th also 8:30am – 9:30am or 3pm-4pm.  Sign up today.

            The Elma Ross Public Library will be closed on Friday, April 6th in observance of Good Friday.  Have a blessed day.

            Tuesday, April 10th – MedlinePlus.gov Class.  Two class times:  8:30am-9:30am and 3pm-4pm.  We only have 10 places, so please register today.  For those attending the MedlinePlus.gov Class a Medlinelus.gov Lab will be offered on Friday, April 13th also 8:30am – 9:30am or 3pm-4pm.  Sign-up today.

            Wednesday, April 25th – Lunch & Learn will be offered at 12 noon.  Our guest presenter will soon be announced.  Bring a lunch, the library will provide drinks and dessert.

            Don’t forget, the April is the crunch time of tax season.  We have some tax forms left here at the library.  Don’t wait too late.

            The Friends of the Elma Ross Public Library Annual Membership Dinner Meeting is almost here!  Mark your calendars, if you haven’t already, for Tuesday, March 27th at 6pm for the Friends Annual Meeting.  Our guest speaker is Mrs. Carolyn Tomlin co-author of “The Secret Holocaust Diaries: The Untold Story of Nonna Bannister” who will present a PowerPoint program onRussia.  Experience the beauty of bothMoscowandSt. Petersburgwhere Nonna Lisowakaja Bannister’s family lived until Stalin and Hitler changed her life forever.  A Holocaust survivor, Nonna came toAmericain 1950.   This is where the book ends…but Carolyn knows the rest of the story.  You’ll hear how Nonna kept her secret for over 45 years from her family.  What made her finally share her Holocaust memories.  And the message she hopes listeners and readers will follow.  From recent travels inRussia, Carolyn transports you back to “ole Mother Russia” and a time when Nicholas II, the last Czar was emperor.  It’s an entertaining and educational program for students and families to experience together.  The Friends is very excited about being able to share this program with you.  Please consider making a contribution to the Friends Organization this year.  Additionally, the dinner costs $7.00 per person and reservations are required.  Make your contributions/reservations today.

          March is here!  March is here!  Hip hip hooray March is here!  Are you excited yet?  We are excited about several things here at the library.

            We have a new circulation system here at the library.  It is called “Verso” and it is available online.  You must have your library card with you in order to check any materials out and to use the computers.  There will be NO exceptions to this, you MUST HAVE YOUR CARD.  We are eagerly still learning this new system, so please be patient with us.  We hope that you will like this new system.

            March is here!  It is hard to believe that the month of March is already here.  We have some great things happening here at the library this month  Here is our calendar of events.

            We will have Toddler Time on Monday, March 5th 11am.  All toddlers and their caregivers are invited to attend Toddler Time at the library.  Toddler Time will also be offered on Monday, March 19th at 11 am.

            Free Computer Classes for March include:  Creating a Facebook on Tuesday, March 6th at 8:30am – 9:30am or 3pm – 4pm; On-Line Job Applications on Tuesday, March 13th at 8:30am – 9:30am or 3pm – 4pm; and Tennessee Electronic Library on Tuesday, March 27th at 8:30am – 9:30am or 3pm – 4pm.  Lab Time is scheduled for each Friday from 8:30am – 9:30am or 3pm – 4pm.  Class size is limited, please register today.

            Friends Night will be on Tuesday, March 27th at 6pm.  Our guest speaker will be Mrs. Carolyn Tomlin, a local author.  She will be speaking on writing.  Carolyn was the co-author of “The Secret Holocaust Diaries.”   Reservations will be required.  More information soon.

            Lunch & Learn will be Wednesday, March 28th at 12 noon.  Our guest speaker is yet to be announced so stay tuned for details.  As always, bring a lunch, the library will provide drinks and dessert.

            The library wishes to announce that (hopefully) our new circulation system will be up and running and ready for patron use on March 5th.  This is a really great new program for us; however, there are changes to come.  All library users will HAVE TO BRING YOUR LIBRARY CARD in order to check materials out and to use the computers.  All patrons will be able to access the catalog on your home computer.  Your Username is your library card number.  The default Password is “userpass”.  Once you have initially tried to log-in with your library card, you will be prompted to create a password of your own choosing.  Please bear with us as we work with these new changes.
