Wow, only one Computer Lab left from our Free Computer Class series.  We have had an amazing time since we started these classes the first week in January.  We hope that everyone who attended any one of these classes learned something new and enjoyed themselves doing so.  Free Computer Classes will take a break during the summer months so that the staff of the library can concentrate on our Summer Reading Programs.  Free Computer Classes will resume in the fall.

Lunch & Learn will be offered on Wednesday, April 25th at 12 noon.  Our speaker is yet to be announced.  Please remember to bring a lunch, the library provides drinks and dessert.  Let’s Lunch & Learn at the Library.  If you know of a person or program who you would be interested in learning about for a Lunch & Learn Program, please contact Katherine at the library.  Thanks.

We have a most wonderful celebration coming up here at the Elma Ross Public Library.  On May 10th from 4-6pm, the library will be celebrating two great milestones.  The first milestone is the 20th Anniversary of the Elma Ross Public Library building.  It is hard to believe that we have been in this building at this location for 20 years, all thanks to Mr.& Mrs. Dick Ross.  The second milestone is the 100th Anniversary of Library Service here in Haywood County.  Haywood County, a recipient of a library grant from Andrew Carnegie, opened the Carnegie Library in Brownsville, TN in 1912.  What a phenomenal accomplishment!  We are so very proud of our library service and we want to celebrate.  So please join us here at the Elma Ross Public Library on May 10th from 4-6pm.  We have speakers from our local government to the Tennessee State Library and Archives coming.  We will have refreshments, a (hopefully successful) butterfly release, as well as touring the recently renovated library facilities.

            HappyReading!

What a lovely and awe-inspiring evening we had at the Friends of the Library Annual Membership Dinner Meeting.  The library looked very festive.  Those who attended were treated to a baked potato bar supper complete with scrumptious desserts.  Our guest speaker was Mrs. Carolyn Tomlin, author of “The Secret Holocaust Diaries”.  We heard the rest of Nonna Bannister’s life story.  We also were treated to a wonderful Power Point presentation aboutRussia.  It was a wonderful evening all around.  A hearty round of applause should be given to Mrs. Tomlin for being with us and sharing her talents with us.  Thank you.  And a big thank you to everyone who came out to support the Friends of the Elma Ross Public Library.  The Friends of the Library is indebted to you for your generosity.  If you haven’t already, please consider becoming a member of the Friends of the Library organization this year.  The Friends of the Library assists the library in maintaining our current collections and helps defray the costs of our summer reading program and other programs throughout the year.  Your contributions to the Friends are greatly appreciated.

We also want to thank Mrs. Serenia Smalls-Bonds for presenting a Women’s History program for our Lunch & Learn program last week.  Thank you, Serenia, for organizing and presenting this great program.  It was a wonderful gift to the community.

Computer classes are almost to a close.  Only two weeks left.  We have MedlinePlus.gov Class (April 10th) and Medicare Part D Classes (April 17th) remaining.  We have a few spots left, please sign-up today.  We have enjoyed giving these free classes and we hope that you have too.  Computer classes will take a break during the summer months and may return in the fall.

Just a reminder that the Elma Ross Public Library will be closed on Friday, April 6th in observance of Good Friday.  Have a blessed day.
