Oh, I just hate when this happens. Sitting here quietly at the desk with a calendar of events in front, getting ready to write this week’s article and stumble upon a great big case of writer’s block! What to write? What to write?? What to write??? Hmmm, this is tough. Let’s take a look at the calendar. Maybe that will spark an idea or two.
According to the library event calendar, we are in the midst of Summer Reading 2013. That’s good news, right? We had a great kick-off celebration with a visit from the Cat in the Hat, our favorite Dr. Seuss character. We should send a big “Thank You” to WLJT-TV (and Sue Lasky for the escort), Wal-Mart, and the City of Brownsville for Mr. Cat’s visit. We need to remind everyone in the Dig Into Reading program to keep up with their book logs. Book logs must be completed before prizes can be awarded at the end of the program. We need to remind the folks to come back next week, Thursday, June 13th, at 2pm for more reading fun. Our teens and adults also need to be reminded to fill out “How I Liked This Book” forms found at the circulation desk for each book that they read, and to place them in the appropriate drawing box. The more you read, the more you enter. The more you enter, the greater the chance of your name being drawn for prizes at the end of the month.
What other news do we need to report? Darn this writer’s block, this is just no fun at all. Well, the calendar says that we have Toddler Time coming up on Monday, June 17th, at 11am. All toddlers and their caregivers are invited to come to the library, listen to stories, color/craft, and have lots and lots of great fun. We also have Lunch & Learn set for Wednesday, June 26th at 12 noon. We’re still finalizing a speaker, so please stay tuned for details.
Well, that should about do it, I’ve got a good list going, so now I’ll be able to write my article for the week and I always end with . . .
Happy Reading!
