March is certainly marching along here at the library. We’ve been having fun, ice storm not included, here at the library. We want everyone to come and visit us often. We want to know what you like, what you love, what makes you happy, what you “geek.”
We have Lunch & Learn scheduled for Wednesday, March 26th at 12 noon in the library Meeting Room. Library Director Katherine Horn will be presenting the Geek the Library Program. Everyone is invited to attend. Please remember to bring a lunch, the library will provide drinks and dessert. We “Geek” Lunch & Learn on Wednesday, March 26th!
We will also be having a Pop into the Library Popcorn Day here on Friday, March 28th as part of our Geek the Library Campaign. Geek the Library is a national advocacy program designed to help our customers (that’s you, by the way) be made aware of the library and its services. So please pop on by the library on Popcorn Day and have some popcorn and sign one of our Geek Boards telling us what you Geek, what you are passionate about on Friday, March 28th.
We have a very special announcement to make. The Friends of the Elma Ross Public Library will be having our Annual Membership Dinner Meeting on Tuesday, April 22nd at 6pm with Mr. Hoke Shirley, a local author and humorist from the Humboldt area, with us. Mid-March already? How in the world did that happen? Would this year please slow down a little bit? Just a little? Well, anyway, how did everyone like the ice/snowfall that we had last week? It sure was pretty. And very slick. We hope that you stayed safe, and warm. Since the library was unable to be open for those few days, we wanted to remind everyone about the READS program.
The Regional Ebook and Audiobook Download System offers thousands of digital ebooks and audiobooks to patrons of public libraries (that includes us here at the Elma Ross Public Library) that belong to the Tennessee Regional Library System. These digital titles can be downloaded to your personal computer and then transferred to various portable devices such as MP3 players and ebook readers.
To use R.E.A.D.S. go to this website – http://reads.lib.overdrive.com – and click the “Help” link at the top of the page. Then click ‘OverDrive Help’ where you will find numerous short videos and written explanations to help you navigate the website and download items to your computer or device. You may also access this website by going to the library website: http://elmarosspubliclibrary.webs.com, then click on the link on the bottom right of the Home page which says “Verso On-line Catalog”, then scroll down and click on the READS link.
If you have questions about READS, or experience difficulty when trying to use the service, please contact READS Support at rsupport.tsla@tn.gov or call us here at the library, 772-9534, and we will assist you as best we can.
Happy Reading!
