The month of June is almost over?!?!? How on earth can that be? That must mean that Summer Reading is in full swing here at the library!

Fizz, Boom, Read! Participants, please remember to keep your book logs filled out to be eligible for prizes at the end of the program. For our Teen and Adult Readers, the June Reading Contests will end on June 30, 2014 at 8pm. Keep reading and keep entering.

Since June is ending that must mean that the month of July is just around the corner. July will continue with Fizz, Boom, Read Summer Reading 2014. We will have programs on Thursday, July 3rd, and Thursday, July 10th, each at 2pm. It is very important to make note, that ALL BOOK LOGS MUST BE COMPLETED BY JULY 3rd at 5pm.

Teens and Adults will have another Reading Contest for the month of July. Just read and enter. Woo Hoo and prizes will be drawn at the end of July.

We must also let you know that the Elma Ross Public Library will be closed on Friday, July 4th in observance of Independence Day.

Are you excited about reading? We’re excited about reading. We know that not everyone enjoys reading as much as bibliophiles do, and that’s ok. However, reading is a fundamental skill that everyone needs to know. You may not want to read the latest Nora Roberts novel, but you will have to read that report your boss just sent you. Or read the directions to get to your destination. Or read the pamphlet that came with your new medication. Reading is such a tremendous skill for everyone to have and to use. We all need to read a little bit every day. So, come to the library, check out a book or two, or a couple of magazines, or the newspaper.

Happy Reading!

We sure do have lots of fun at summer reading. You could say, and we do, that We Geek Summer Reading. Actually, we geek reading. Any reading. We encourage people to read all the time. What do you think that we are doing right now, but encouraging you to read? We love our library! We Geek our Library! We want you to geek our library too! What does that mean? We want you to understand and appreciate all that the library has to offer in our community. We want to be the best library for Brownsville and Haywood County. We need your help to do that. We need you to advocate for the library. We need you to tell others in our community who don’t visit the library, to come and visit us, and that we have the tools that they need. We need you to come and visit us often – check out a book, read a magazine, create a resume on the computer, Whatever you needs are, the library wants to be able to help you. Will you help us? Tell your friends and neighbor all about our wonderful library.

Happy Reading!

We had Word Girl and she was really fun and excited about reading, even when we had to read in the dark. Thank you Word Girl and Sue Lasky from WJLT, her escort extraordinaire. Come back and visit us again anytime! All parents need to remember to keep your child’s book log updated so that they will be eligible for prizes at the end of the program. Come back next Thursday at 2pm for more Fizz, Boom, Reading Fun!
