The Friends of the Elma Ross Public Library have an announcement that they would like to make. The Friends are changing the date for the Friends Annual Membership Dinner meeting from February to March because of scheduling conflicts. We will be getting information to all current Friends members shortly. Thank you for your patience and your support and generosity.

Have you ever wanted to learn how to knit? Or crochet? How about woodworking? Or stained glass? Have you ever wanted to start a garden? Build a shed? Well, just about anything that you want to learn, we have books about here at your local library. Come and check out our great selections of craft books.

Do you like playing board games? Games like Monopoly, Candyland, Checkers? Board games can be a whole lot of fun especially when played with your family and friends. We have tax forms. Woo hoo! We don’t have near the amount that we have ordered in the past, but we do have the bare basics. We have the 1040, 1040A, and 1040EZ forms only. No other forms will be supplied to us from the IRS. If you need any other forms or instruction booklets, you must access the information online via the IRS website (www.irs.gov) or order your own forms to be sent to you by mail by calling the IRS toll-free number (1-800-829-3676).

To access the tax tables online, please do the following. 1. Go to http://www.irs.gov. 2. Click on the “Forms and Pubs” tab located across the top of the screen. 3. Click on the blue link about 1/4 the way down the page on the right that says “Find All Current Forms and Pubs”. 4. In the “Find” box, put in the search term “tax table” and in the “In” box change the selection to “title”, then click on “Find”. The link to the tax table should be listed below. 5. Click on the link, it should open as an Adobe/PDF page. If you access this information at the library and want it printed out, printing charges do apply. Library charges for black and white printing are .10₵ per page.

If you are trying to access your W2 online, please make sure that your employer has given you the correct URL/link to access the information. The library does NOT keep a list of employers who provide W2s online.

The library is a place filled with books, right? Yes, we are. However, the library also offers access to the internet via our desktops and through our WiFi service. We offer various programming during the year. We offer programs like Summer Reading, Friends Nights, Lunch & Learn, Toddler Time, etc. Now we have a question for you. What programs would you like to see the library host this year?

Do you know of a local author/craftsperson/speaker that might be interested in presenting a program here at the library? We are looking for Friends Night speakers, Lunch & Learn speakers, and Family Night program ideas, and your help is needed. Please let us know if you know of someone interested in speaking/presenting at the library.

While we hate mentioning this, we do want to reiterate the fact that if you are too sick to be at work or at school, you are too sick to be at the library. While we love all our patrons dearly, we do not love the spread of germs. So please, if you are sick, stay home and recuperate. Thank you.

Back to tax forms. As of the writing of this article, none of the ordered tax forms have arrived here at the library. We will put notice out on our Facebook page of when they do arrive. Thank you for your patience. Don’t we all just love the IRS???
