Reading is fun. Reading is a skill that everyone should learn. Reading opens your mind to new ideas and characters. Reading is what the public library is all about. We encourage everyone to read at least 20 minutes per day. Just 20 minutes. One chapter in a book. Or if you are like us (library staff) we read more than 20 minutes per day. If we could, we’d be reading all day. But alas, we do have other things to do during the day – like answering questions, assisting people on the computers, finding books for other people to read, eating, sleeping – things like that. We also want you to realize that “reading” isn’t just pages in a book. “Reading” can encompass listening to your favorite author in an audiobook. Where can you find audiobooks? Right here at your public library. We have a growing collection of audiobooks. We also highly encourage to check out the READS program. READS stands for the Regional Ebook and Audiobook Download System. READS is free. All you need is your library card and a home computer or e-reader of your choice, like a Nook, Kindle, or an iPad. The READS site has an excellent “Help” section if you have any questions regarding your specific brand of e-reader. Come and check out our audiobook collection today. And remember to check out READS!

The Friends of the Library are working on the upcoming Friends Night program. We hope to have some additional details to announce soon. Please be sure to check our Facebook Page for updates.

Happy Reading!

What a fantastic program the Friends of the Library had last Tuesday for the Friends Annual Membership Dinner Meeting. Mr. Joey Parker was the guest speaker. And he was phenomenal! Thank you Mr. Parker for sharing your story with us. His book is titled “If Good Men Do Nothing” and it is a great read!

Thank you also to all the member of the Friends Organization. Your support is greatly appreciated. Your donations help fund the programs offered by the Elma Ross Public Library. If you are not currently a member of the Friends Group, please consider making a donation today.

Thank you Friends!

Happy April everyone! April? Really? My goodness this year is going by fast. Already the month of April. Well, did anyone have any good April Fool’s Day pranks played on them yesterday? Some of the library elves decided to rearrange some of our books yesterday, but nothing too bad. Crazy little elves.

Here is the calendar of events for the month of April. The Elma Ross Public Library will be closed on Friday, April 3rd in observance of Good Friday. We hope that everyone has a blessed day.

Monday, April 6th, at 11am, we will have Toddler Time here at the library. All toddlers and their caregivers are invited to the library for stories, and a craft. We love Toddler Time!

Friday, April 10th at 7pm, we will be having our Family Game Night. Several different board games will be available. The library will serve drinks and popcorn. All are invited to Family Game Night at the library.

Monday, April 20th, at 11am, we will have Toddler Time here at the library. All toddlers and their caregivers are invited to the library for stories, and a craft. We love Toddler Time!
