If you missed Friends Night last week, then you missed a greatly informative program by Mr. Geoff Baggett. Mr. Baggett presented his books “Brothers and Warriors” and “Little Hornet”. Both books are wonderful and tell the fictionalized accounts of Mr. Baggett’s relatives during the American Revolution. Thank you, Mr. Baggett, for sharing your stories with us. It was a spectacular evening.

Mid-June already. We are a few weeks into our On Your Mark, Get Set . . . READ Summer Reading programs. We are having a blast with our K-6th graders learning all about sports, exercise, health and nutrition. Keep reading and keep your book logs updated. There are a couple of weeks left for our Teen and Adult Reading Contests for the month of June. Keep reading and keep entering. Let’s hear a shout for summer reading!!

Happy Reading!

Springtime is creeping towards summertime very quickly. It is hard to believe that summer will be here in just a matter of weeks. We are trying to enjoy this spring weather for a long as we can. We are springing into fun here at the library.

The next Friends Night is originally set for May 17th is going to have to be postponed for just a couple of weeks. Put the date of June 7th at 7pm on your calendar. Mr. Geoff Baggett will be presenting this evening. Not to give too much away, we will save the particulars for an upcoming article, but please save the date.

We would like to extend hearty “Congratulations!” to the Haywood High School Class of 2016 as they get ready to graduate on Saturday. Because the graduation is supposed to take place at the stadium, the library is slightly adjusting our hours for the day. The Library will be open from 1pm until 5pm on Saturday, May 14th.

So sorry for the absence from the paper these last few weeks. Family medical care duties had to be done. We know that you have missed your weekly dose of Library Corner. Haven’t you?? Of course, you did. How silly of us to think otherwise. Well now, what is up with the library these days?

We have some new software on our Public Access Computers. We now have Time-Limit Manager software that we are using. We must ask that you please bring your library card with you in order to use the computers. In addition, if you have noticed, we have done away with the sign-in log. Woo hoo! Once you have shown us your library card and we have scanned you in, we will hand you a slip of paper with a sign-in code on it. You then take that code to any computer that says “Available” on the screen, put the sign-in code in the appropriate box and click “I Agree”. This means that you agree to the terms and conditions of using our computers. Please read through this screen in its entirety at least once. Now you are able to use the computers to do your work. If you will notice in the top upper middle of the computer screen there is a Timer that shows you exactly how much time you have left to use the computer. If you are working on a school project, resume, or a test and you need more time, please let us know at least 10 minutes before the end of your session so that we may extend your time. When you have completed your work, and received and paid for any pages that you have printed, then please remember to Log-Off your session. On the Timer in the top upper middle of the screen there is a Red X. This Red X is where you need to click when completely done so that any personal information that you may have used during your computer session is wiped from the computer’s memory. Thank you for your cooperation as we all get used to this new software.

Other exciting news here at the library is that Summer Reading is almost here!!! On Your Mark, Get Set . . . READ Summer Reading Program 2016 is gearing up for some reading fun starting in June and running through mid-July. We have programs for K-6th, teens, and adults. K-6th Programs will be on Thursdays at 2pm. More information as soon as it is finalized.
