The winners for the Teen and Adult Summer Reading Contests for July are . . . . . Actually, we can’t say just yet as this article is being sent in to the newspaper before we are able to draw the names. So next week we will let you know who the Summer Reading winners are.

The August schedule for the library includes Toddler Time on the 1st and 3rd Mondays of the month at 11am. The Basic Skills Computer Class is offered on the 1st Monday at 2pm. We are interested in offering some other programming for senior adults and we would love your input. If you have any ideas for programs that you would like to see here at the library for any age, please let us know.

Now that August is here, school is back in session. We certainly hope that the school year goes well for all the Haywood County students and educators. We would like to remind all our students and educators about two fantastic resources available to you. TEL and READS. TEL is the Tennessee Electronic Library and it is full of resources for research, test prep, homework, genealogy, and much more. The URL for TEL is http://www.tntel.tnsos.org It is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. You may access TEL from any computer which has internet capabilities. You may access TEL at the library, the schools or from home. Check out TEL today and use it for your school needs. Another fabulous program that is available 24/7 is READS. READS is the Regional E-book and Audio-book Download System. If you are searching for a book for your studies and the hardback copy from the library, whether school or public, is checked out, you can also check on READS to get a copy. The URL for READS is http://www.reads.lib.overdrive.com You will need your public library card number handy to check any of these materials out. If you need any help with READS, just give us a call here at the library (772-9534) and we will be happy to help.

What a wonderful, spectacular, jovial time was had by those who attended the Elma Ross Players Puppet Show, our finale for the On Your Mark, get Set . . .READ Summer Reading Program. When, what a great time! We read stories, played games, and had lots of great active fun. Thank you to everyone who participated. The Grand Prize winner will be announced next week as this article is being submitted before he/she is chosen.

Even though the K-6th program is ended, that doesn’t mean that the Teen and Adult Reading Contests have ended yet. There are still a couple of weeks left in the month of July. So keep reading and keep entering. Winners for the July Contests will be chosen after the 31st.

We do want to make all of our Haywood County educators aware of the offerings that the library has. Not only do we have our local collections, there is the READS Program, and the Tennessee Electronic Library, If you have any questions about READS or TEL, please contact us. These are fabulous free services that can benefit all our students.
