The Friends of the Elma Ross Public Library will be having the Annual Membership Dinner Meeting on Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at 6pm at the Elma Ross Public Library in the Meeting Room. We are extremely excited to announce our speaker for the evening. Miss Jalissa Bond.

Jalissa Bond is the 26-year-old daughter of the Rev. Daniel and Cynthia Bond from Brownsville, TN. She has obtained her Bachelor’s in Business Administration degree from the University of Tennessee at Martin and is currently pursuing her Master’s in Education with licensure for Pre-K-3rd grade from Freed-Hardeman University. She also plans to continue her education as far as she possibly can, with one degree focusing on the theological concentration. Jalissa’s vision is to one day open a Christian-based learning center for young children to grow academically and spiritually. She enjoys singing, dancing, working with young children, and being a “servant of the Lord.” She also hosts an open mic night which she calls “Open Gift Night” once a month, as an outlet for Christian people to share their gifts and talents. Jalissa’s book “I Am…Just Undiscovered” is a collection of prophetic poetry sharing her journey “out of darkness into the marvelous light.” From feeling empty and hopeless to experiencing God’s love to her love letters to her “future,” Jalissa exposes her very soul in hopes that someone else may find freedom in Christ Jesus and encouragement for life’s journey.

A buffet dinner will be served. Cost for the meal is $9.00 per person. Reservations are required. Please call the library, 772-9534, and make your reservation and your Friends of the Elma Ross Public Library membership renewal today. Your membership matters.

One last item, join us at the library as we celebrate St. Patrick’s Day on Friday, March 17th. We will be giving everyone a shamrock and a sucker.

How do you like your stories? Do you like them high or low? Do you like them to or fro? Do you like them here or there? Gosh, we love stories everywhere! We’ll read stories on a train or on a boat. On a zebra or on a goat. We love stories long or short. We love stories in a fort. Stories make us smart and wise. Stories make us fantasize. Stories help us grow and learn. Stories even make us yearn. Of far off places or near to home. Little-bitty chapter or thick, big tome. Story-time with Mom and Dad. Is the best time we’ve ever had. So read a story. Or two or three. And spend some quality time with me. We had an awesome time at our Dr. Seuss Family Night on Friday evening. We read Dr. Seuss stories and made such lovely Cat-in-the-Hat hats. Thank you for joining us on this first annual Dr. Seuss event.

The Friends of the Elma Ross Public Library has finalized the date and speaker for the Friends Annual Membership Dinner Meeting. Please mark your calendars for Tuesday, March 28th at 6pm. Our guest speaker will be Jalissa Bond who has written a collection of prophetic poetry titled “I am . . .Just Undiscovered.” Membership mailers will be going out soon to all current Friends Members. More information about this event will be forth coming. Please consider renewing your Friends membership, or becoming a member of the Friends of the Library. Your support matters.

Happy Reading.
