The Gently Used Computer Silent Auction is up and running for a few more days at least. Bids will be accepted through May 31 at 5pm. Please remember that these machines have had all programs that were purchased by the library removed. The funds raised by this auction will go directly back to purchasing new technology for the library in the form of matching funds when the library applies for technology grants.

The Elma Ross Public Library will be closed on Monday, May 29 in observance of Memorial Day. We hope that everyone has a blessed day.
Build a Better World Summer Reading 2017 will kick off for the month on June1 at 2pm. Storyhour Programs (K-6th graders) will be held on Thursdays at 2pm from June 1 through July 13. Reading Contests for Teens and Adults will also begin June 1. Join us for Build a Better World!

It is that time of year again. Summer reading is just about to start. We are excited about Build a Better World Summer Reading 2017. Registration is required for K-6th grade participants. Also, we ask that you keep your book log updated. Story Hours will be presented on Thursdays at 2pm beginning June 1 and running through July 13. For our Teens and Adults, we will have our reading contests for the months of June and July. All that must be done is filling out a “How I Liked This Book” form found at the circulation desk. Let’s get ready to read!

It is also the time of year the Gently Used Computer Silent Auction. All gently used computers, desktop and laptop models, are out and up for bid. Bids will be accepted until May 31 at 5pm. Each computer will have a bid sheet with a minimum bid listed on it. All programs that were purchased by the library have been removed. While the library appreciates the money that the silent auction raises (which incidentally goes to purchasing newer computers), bids only have to be increased by a cent or two to be the highest bidder, please bear this in mind when bidding on these gently-used items.

Happy Reading!

Oh my, we just have to say this. It can’t be helped, especially for people that grew up with Star Wars. Here it goes – May the Fourth Be With You! For all our Science Fiction fans we do have several Star Wars and Star Trek books in our collection. Which science fiction book series fan are you?

May is here and we are working feverishly on our Summer Reading programs. Yes, Summer Reading is quickly approaching. The theme for this year is Build a Better World. Story Hours for K-6 graders will be offered on Thursdays at 2pm beginning on June 1 and will run for 7 weeks until our finale on July 13. We will have book logs so that you may track your reading. Prizes will be given at the finale on July 13. Registration will be required for K-6 graders participation. We will have monthly Reading Contests for our Teens and Adults for June and July. After finishing reading library books, you fill out a “How I Liked this Book” forms which will be found at the circulation desk and drop them in the appropriate container. Prizes will be awarded at the end of each month. We love to encourage reading during the summer, heck, we encourage reading all year long. So read with us this summer as we “Build a Better World”.
