Summer Reading is in full swing. There are several options for your summer reading pleasure. We have the K – 6th graders Build a Better World programs on Thursdays at 2pm. Registration is easy, just fill out a registration form found at the circulation desk. Please keep up with your reading logs. Prizes will be awarded at the end of the program. We are having fun as we learn how to take care of ourselves, our communities and our world as we Build a Better World. If you are a teen or adult, you may participate in our monthly reading contests. No registration required. As you return your books to the library, fill out a “How I Liked This Book” form found at the circulation desk and put it in the appropriate drawing box. Prizes will be awarded at the end of the months of June and July. There is also the First Lady’s Statewide Summer Reading Competition. Log your reading minutes from June 1 – July 28 and you may qualify as one of Tennessee’s Top 100 Readers. The reading packets must be returned to your local library (that’s us) on July 28th. For more information and to download the reading packet visit http://www.tn.gov/firstlady

We want to remind everyone about two fabulous free services available at your fingertips. They are TEL, the Tennessee Electronic Library (TEL provides access to over 400,000 electronic resources, including magazines, scholarly journals, podcasts, videos, e-books, test preparation materials, federal census records, Tennessee primary source materials, and more!), and READS, the Regional E-book and Audio-book Download System (free downloadable books in a variety of formats). All you need for TEL is a computer, internet connection, and this website: http://www.tntel.tnsos.org All you need for READS is a computer, internet connection, your library card, an e-reader of your choice, and this website: http://reads.lib.overdrive.com/ Did we mention that these are FREE services available to every citizen in Brownsville?

Happy Reading!
