Happy New Year! We are looking forward to great things here at the Elma Ross Public Library in 2018. We have some really great programs scheduled for this year and we hope that you enjoy them as well. We will continue to try a few things here like an Adult Coloring Program that we call Lunch & Leisure on the 4th Wednesday of each month at noon (bring your own lunch) and various special pop-up days like Popcorn Day. We also have our regular programs like Toddler Time and the Basic Skills Computer Class. We are also planning a Family Night event each quarter, so stay tuned for more details. 2018 here we come!

Have you made your New Year’s Resolution yet? There is a resolution that I make each year and that is to read more – read something different, maybe get a different perspective, keep myself educated and aware. Reading is one of the most powerful tools that we have in our lives. The skills of successful reading begin at infancy – yes infancy, when our parents read and talk to us. Being read to as an infant helps our reading and learning skills as we grow older. We want our children to have the best things in life which include the ability to read, so start reading early, it helps tremendously.

We are in need of a volunteer Genealogist. If you have a passion for genealogy research and a desire to help others, we have just the place for you here at the library. There are no set hours, just what you are able to give us. Sound interesting? Please contact us about this volunteer opportunity.

Happy Reading!
