Holy Moly where has this month gone? If just does not seem possible that it almost the end of August. August means that school is back in session and that fall is just around the corner.

Since school is back in session, I wanted to remind everyone about a free resource that every Haywood Countian has access to. The Tennessee Electronic Library, https://tntel.info/, is a virtual library that you can access from your home computer, school computer lab, or smartphone – anywhere with an Internet connection. Access to over 400,000 electronic resources including magazines, scholarly journals, podcasts, videos, e-books, test preparation materials, federal census records, Tennessee primary source materials, and more can all be found here. The mission of the Tennessee Electronic Library is to provide convenient and equitable access to library and information resources for all citizens of Tennessee to enhance the quality of their everyday lives, the depth of their educational experience, and the economic prosperity of their communities. What a great summer we’ve had here at the Elma Ross Public Library. We’ve been reading and creating all this summer. We hope that you have enjoyed reading with us. We also hope that you continue reading all year round.

We’ve finished our Libraries Rock! Summer Reading programs now. Now to announce the winners. . .or at least most of them as of this writing which is taking place before August gets here. The Grand Prize Winner of the K-6th Grade Libraries Rock Program is Jania Brown. Ms. Jania won a Wal-Mart Gift Certificate. We are very proud of all our readers this year. They did a fantastic job. We do have certificates and goodie bags for those who participated. If you were not in attendance at the Puppet Show, your certificates/bags are available at the circulation desk.

The winner for the Teen Reading Contest for the month of June is Matthew Blaylock. Congratulations Matthew. Come into the library to get your prize. The winner of the Adult Reading Contest for the month of June is Carla Hardee. Congratulations Carla. Come into the library to get your prize. The winners for the Teen and Adult Reading Contests for July will be announced shortly.

July? Is it really the month of July? This year is just flying by. Summer is half over already. Do you know what that means? We have winners for our Teen and Adult Summer Reading Contests for the month of June. Oh dear, wait a second, this article is being sent in to the newspaper before the 30th so we can’t make those announcements just yet. We will have the June winner’s names next week.

Libraries Rock Summer Reading 2018 programs for K-6th graders has just a couple of weeks left. The last story hour program will be on July 5th at 2pm. And the finale, the Elma Ross Players Puppet Show, will take place on Thursday, July 12th at 2pm. Prizes will be given on this day. All book logs must be completed by July 7th before 5pm. Join us!

The Elma Ross Public Library will be closed on Wednesday, July 4th in observance of Independence Day. Have a blessed day.

The Elma Ross Public Library is accepting applications and resumes for the position of Assistant Director until July 6th.

My goodness it has been a month! Our Library Director has had some family medical concerns develop and was not able to send in any Library Corner articles for the last few weeks. Our apologies for that. Here is what’s happening at your library this summer.

The K-6th Graders Story Hour Libraries Rock! programs are each Thursday at 2pm. The final day to update your book logs is July 7th at 5pm. All prizes for K-6th Gr. Program will be given on Thursday, July 12th at 2pm when we have the Elma Ross Players Puppet Show Finale.

The Teen and Adult Libraries Rock! Summer Reading Contests are still ongoing. You have until Saturday, June 30th to enter. There will be another Teen and Adult Reading Contest for the month of July.

The Elma Ross Public Library will be closed on Wednesday, July 4th in observance of Independence Day. We hope that you have a blessed day.

The Elma Ross Public Library is seeking a dynamic individual to serve as Assistant Director. This person must possess strong computer,
interpersonal, organizational, and supervisory skills. This is a full-time position with pension and benefits. College degree preferred. Submit resume and completed application with the Elma Ross Public Library, 1011 E. Main St., Brownsville, TN 38012 by July 6th.
