Do you know what day Thursday, May 16th is? Any ideas? (Llamas.) It promises to be a very fun and exciting day. What could it be? (Llamas.) The Haywood County Reading Railroad and Elma Ross Public Library are cohosting a fabulous program for children 5 and under. And it has something to do with . . . Llamas. That’s right. Llamas. The Haywood County Reading Railroad and Elma Ross Public Library are proud to host the Llama Llama Party here at the Elma Ross Public Library grounds on Thursday, May 16th from 3-4 pm. We will have very special guests of live llamas from CKH Leapin’ Llamas owned and operated by Mr. & Mrs. Jeremy Sheppard. We are excited to be having Kaia, Zada, and Sketcher coming for a visit. We will also be having a craft and a snack. Please remember to wear closed-toe shoes to be around the Llamas.
Another fun program will be starting in June here at your library. Can you guess? If you guessed summer reading, then you are correct. It is Summer Reading time here at the library. Thursday, June 13th at 2pm we will have Rocket themed books and will make a recycled rocket craft. Thursday, June 20th at 2pm we will have Star/constellation themed books and a make-your-own constellation craft. Thursday, July 18th at 2pm will be our finale with the Elma Ross Players puppet show with prizes being awarded afterwards. We do ask that a registration form be filled out and a book log kept. Reading may begin June 1st and the last day to log books will be July 6th at 5pm. “A Universe of Stories” isn’t just for kids either. We will have reading contests for teens and adults too during the months of June and July. All that is needed for these contests is to read books and when the books are returned to the library that a “How I Liked This Book” form be filled out and placed in the appropriate drawing box. The more you read, the more chances there are to enter. Winners will be drawn at the end of each month.
Happy Reading!
