Oh my goodness gracious, we must apologize profusely for not having submitted a Library Corner article in several weeks. We do apologize for this oversight. We endeavor to do much better from now on in making sure our articles are submitted.

Let’s see where shall we begin? Oh yes, we had a fantastic time at the Dr. Seuss Family Night on Friday, March 5th. We very much enjoyed reading some silly Dr. Seuss stories and making Cat-in-the-Hat hats on Facebook Live.  We certainly hope that this Family Night program can happen in-person next year but we did enjoy providing this program via Facebook Live. Please be sure to join us next year for Dr. Seuss Family Night.

The library is continuing to offer a variety of on-line programming here at your library. While we miss being able to offer programs in person at this time, we are very excited that we can offer programming on-line. So please join us for any and all of our on-line programs. We currently offer Storytime at the Library for 5 days a week, posted between 4-5pm. We offer Tween/Teen Time at the Library for 5 days a week, posted between 4-5pm. We offer Basic Skills Computer Class at the Library on Mondays, posted at 2pm. We offer Adult Craft Class at the Library on Tuesdays, posted at 2pm. We offer Teen Tech Time at the Library on Thursdays, posted at 3:30pm. And we offer Kids Craft Class at the Library on Fridays, posted at 3:30pm. Are there any types of programs that you would like us to offer here at the library? We are always looking for fantastic ideas about programs that we can offer.

Even though it is only March (March already? Where has the time gone?) we are currently planning our summer reading schedule. We will be using the READSquared software like we did last year. We will also be offering additional on-line programs for all ages. Please be sure to check our weekly newspaper articles/blog posts/facebook posts for additional information coming soon.

            Happy Reading!

Did you know? Since the COVID pandemic started did you know that the Elma Ross Public Library has been continuously offering library services even when we did not allow library patrons to enter the building? We have. We are open for 45 hours per week. We are open on Mondays from 10am until 8pm. We are open the rest of the week (Tuesdays thru Saturdays) from 10am until 5pm. We are open with a few new rules in place. We kindly ask you to follow these rules.

The new rules in place here at the library are here to help people properly social distance and to help decrease the sharing of germs which can possibly make those around you sick. These rules are: you MUST properly wear a face mask to enter the library; you MUST wash your hands in the restroom once you have entered the library; you MUST leave the plastic covering on the keyboard and mouse when using the computer. The plastic covering on the keyboard and mouse will be changed once you have logged off the computer and before another person uses it. Yes, we are aware that the use of the plastic covering prohibits the full functioning of the scrolling wheel on the mouse. We apologize for that inconvenience however we would rather protect our patrons from getting sick. Covering the mouse and keyboard is the simplest was that we can protect our patrons. If you remove the plastic then you will cause library staff to have to disinfect the keyboard and mouse which takes 48-72 hours to completely dry, so please be courteous and do NOT remove the plastic covering. Another new rule is that patrons may not wander through the freestanding shelves. Until this pandemic is ending, patrons will not be able to wander thru the shelves. The Card Catalog computers are available to assist you on your search of materials. The Library staff is eager to help you in your search and will gladly retrieve items for you from the shelves.

Because of this lovely pandemic the Elma Ross Public Library has increased its offering of on-line content on our facebook page. We hope that you are enjoying these offerings. We currently are offering Storytime at the Library on Mondays thru Fridays, posted between 4-5pm. We are offering Tween/Teen  Time at the Library on Mondays thru Fridays, posted between 4-5pm. We are offering an On-Line Basic Skills Computer Class on Mondays, posted at 2pm. We are offering an On-Line Adult Craft Class on Tuesdays, posted at 2pm. We are offering a Teen Tech Class on Thursdays, posted at 3:30pm. We are offering a Kids Craft Class on Fridays, posted at 3:30pm. Once this pandemic is over, we are looking forward to hosting these classes in person and on-line! Please join us. Are there any classes that you would like to see the library offer? Please let us know.

            Happy Reading.
