The staff of Elma Ross Public Library wishes everyone a joyous Holiday Season. Happy Hanukkah, Merry Christmas, and Happy Kwanza to those who celebrate. The Elma Ross Public Library will be closed the following days in observance of the Christmas holiday: Tuesday, December 24th; Wednesday, December 25th; and Thursday, December 26th. The Library will also be closed on Wednesday, January 1, 2020 in observance of the New Year. Happy New Year!
Now for the somewhat traditional holiday poem to the tune of “Let it Snow”.

Oh the weather outside is frightful,
But the fire is so delightful.
And since we’ve no place to be,
Let us read, let us read, let us read!

It doesn’t show signs of stopping.
And I brought some corn for popping.
The lights are turned up to see,
Let us read, let us read, let us read!

When we finally say goodnight
How we’ll hate getting out in the storm.
But it you’ll really hold me tight,
All the way home we’ll be warm.

The fire is slowly dying,
And my dear, we’re still good-bye-ing.
But as long as you still love me,
Let us read, let us read, let us read!

We had an absolutely wonderful time at the Annual Gingerbread House Family Night last week. The stories were entertaining as always. And the gingerbread houses – oh my goodness – they were fantastic. We have some extremely talented engineers/construction crew here in town. We are looking forward to next year already.

One very important announcement – the Elma Ross Public Library will be closed on Thursday, December 12th so that all library staff may attend a regional library training workshop. We do sincerely apologize for any inconvenience that this may cause.

The library will also be closed Tuesday, December 24th through Thursday, December 26th in observance of the Christmas holidays.

We are planning our library calendar. If there are any programs/events that you would like to see the library offer, please let us now. We continue to offer monthly Basic Skills Computer classes and bi-weekly Toddler Time programs. We would like to offer more programming for children, teens, and adults – we need your input.

Happy Reading!

The staff of the Elma Ross Public Library would like to extend our heartfelt best wishes for a Happy, Healthy, and Peace-filled Thanksgiving to one and all. The Elma Ross Public Library will be closed on Thursday, November 28th and Friday, November 29th in observance of the Thanksgiving Holiday.

The Annual Gingerbread House Family Night is almost here. This annual tradition takes place on the first Friday of December (December 6th) at 7pm. We read the stories of “The Gingerbread Baby” and “Gingerbread Friends”, then we make gingerbread houses from milk cartons, frosting, graham crackers, and candy. We have such a wonderful time offering this program each year. Reservations are required as our space is limited. Please call the library at 772-9534 to make your reservations today. Woo hoo for Gingerbread House Family Night!

The library is working on our calendar for next year and we have a question for you. What type of events/classes/programs would you like the library to offer? Please take a moment to let us know. You may come in, phone us at 772-9534, or email us your suggestions to elmarosspubliclibrary@gmail.com.

Happy Reading!
